Criteria for Funding of Advocacy and Awareness Projects
In the approval process, priority will be given to:
- Projects that facilitate policy change or formulation in matters of the environment;
- Projects that empower the grassroots to effectively engage in environmental matters;
- Projects in areas/ecosystems where other CEF projects are being implemented. This is done to favour the creation of synergies between awareness/advocacy initiatives and community-driven environmental interventions;
- Projects dealing specifically with ICZM development;
An organisations may have an advantage if:
- It has already developed proposals or carried out projects focusing on environmental awareness/advocacy;
- It is already operating in key priority ecosystems and has prior experience in the community where the project is to be implemented; and a long-term perspective to operate there after the end of implementation of the awareness/advocacy project;
- It is willing to contribute in terms of financial and non-financial resources to the implementation of the proposed awareness/advocacy project.
