The BCP was a flexible, demand-driven funding mechanism that provided financial and technical   assistance to biodiversity conservation in priority conservation areas through key local conservation institutions such as group ranches, Wildlife associations, conservation NGOs, government agencies, private game ranches, research institutions, community wildlife sanctuaries and the tourism industry.

 Programme Objective:

The goal of BCP was to enhance sustainable biodiversity conservation in priority areas through local initiatives by promoting activities that create awareness of the need to conserve biodiversity, enhancing enterprises that promote sustainable use of biodiversity, supporting interventions that reduce conflict between people and biodiversity and supporting initiatives that reduce threats to biodiversity.
